Just Dance Academy of Tarpon Springs is proud to announce the arrival of renowned Actress/Dancer Mariah Fox to our staff.   Mariah Has trained with such greats as Kerry Casserly, Billy Johnstone, Elaine Petricoff and Casey Colgan .  A graduate of The American Musical and Dramatic Academy in New York, Mariah went on to a leading role straight out of school in Grease as “Sandy.”

Mariah has also done such shows nationally as “Jekyll and Hyde,”  “Footloose,”  “Pippin,” and danced at Bush Gardens Tampa. She has also had several film, television, and national commercial credits. Her last tour took her around the world  to over 15 countries and brought her back home to Tarpon Springs. After retirement teaching, choreography, and direction became her passion. Teaching Acting, singing, musical theater and Dance at Venue Actors Studio was a highlight, as well as choreographing for such companies as Salerno Theatre and The City Stage Players. Mariah has over 20 years experience in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip-hop, musical theatre and most styles of Ballroom.  Mariah is excited to share her talent and industry knowledge with the talented students of Just Dance Academy.

Teaming up with Head Coreographer Heather Walts, Just Dance Academy brings an amazing array of talent to Tarpon Springs.   Kids of all ages are welcome to enroll for the teachings by these professionals.

On April 15, 2011 the City of Tarpon Springs held its annual Talent Show.  This show brings members of the community together for the ultimate showing of local talent.  In this years talent show for the very first time, Just Dance Academy competed under the direction of head instructor Heather Walts.   Just Dance Academy had 12 of Tarpon Springs finest young ladies perform in their amazing choreographed routine entitled “Circle Of Life”.

Girls Rock The House At Talent Show

The girls of Just Dance Academy rocked the house in their performance of the Lion King’s Circle Of Life.  The crowd of hundreds in a sold out theatre rose to their feet with a roaring applause so appropriate for this performance.   The choreography made the viewer recognize the power of dance and placed you in the jungle of wild animals through this modern dance.  ”This was a performance that made me so proud of our girls”, said Heather Walts; Head Instructor.   The girls wore animal print face paints of leopard spots, tiger stripes and zebra prints.   “They were absolutely amazing, and it brought chills to the back of my neck” said attendee Mark Reis. 

Just Dance Academy Takes 2nd Place

A local youth, Emilio Serrano performed an amazing break-dance of Usher’s “DJ Got Us Falling In Love”, that took First Place.   Though modern dance sometimes takes a back seat to Usher, the Just Dance Academy Girls cheered him on to his victory!  The girls in whole were very excited and cherish their second place ranking.

On August 25, 2010 the newest Dance School to make its debut in Tarpon Springs was a phenomenal success for Owners Heather Walts and Pamela Walts.   Heather Walts never dreamed when she had the notion of opening her own dance studio that she would have such an overwhelming support from former students.

accepting new registration for the coming fall sessions, offering over 10 different and exciting classes.   These classes vary from the grace of Ballet to the latest in Hip Hop Dance.

It has been a long haul from the inception of Heather Walts opening her own dance studio.    Heather was originally a lead instructor at another studio, but when the owner of that studio decided to retire. it was time for a new generation of dance leadership in tarpon Springs / Palm Harbor.

With the help of friends and family, Just Dance academy was born today August 25, 2010.  Featuring an oversized Marley Floor, full length mirrors along the dance floor, ballet rails, dance apparel, lobby and cozy lounge, Just Dance academy is sure you please!  Check out the completion photos below and we look forward to seeing everyone here tonight at 5:30 for the open house!
